▫ Zahawi’s tax inquiry to be completed “swiftly”

The Prime Minister’s spokesperson stated that Rishi Sunak expects the inquiry into Nadhim Zahawi’s tax arrangements to be completed “swiftly”. However, the spokesperson clarified that there is no set timeline for the conclusion of the inquiry, citing the importance of thoroughness.

When asked if the Prime Minister was confident that Zahawi had always told him the truth about his tax affairs, the spokesperson stated that the investigation is looking into any potential breaches of the ministerial code, and that they would not be prescriptive about how the advice goes about ascertaining that.

▫ Barclay: Government committed to keeping the NHS free

During Health Questions in the House of Commons, Shadow Health Secretary Wes Streeting challenged the government to rule out any extension of user charging in the NHS, citing the article of former Health Secretary Sajid Javid in the Times advocating for people to be charged to see a GP.
